Davis's Story

Davis Hartsell's life was a testament to extraordinary resilience and courage. Diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer, at just four years old, Davis faced an uphill battle from the start. He underwent numerous surgeries, endured grueling rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, a bone marrow transplant, and biologic treatments.  Though he eventually overcame cancer, the harsh treatments left lasting health complications. At the age of sixteen, Davis was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, which required him to undergo a double lung transplant.

Despite all of these challenges, Davis excelled academically. After graduating from Vestavia Hills High School in 2018, he pursued higher education at the University of Alabama, where he earned a degree in Accounting from the Culverhouse College of Business, graduating cum laude in 2022. While Davis took his education seriously, he also had a fun-loving spirit and was always ready for a good time. Fondly known as the "Peter Millar Guy," he was often spotted around Tuscaloosa, dining with friends at Chuck's, hanging out at Innisfree, sipping on espresso martinis at Sessions, and even dancing at date parties. He was a cherished friend to many and deeply loved by those who knew him best.

His dedication and talent earned him a scholarship to the Manderson Graduate School of Business, where he completed his Master’s in Accounting in May 2023. Shortly after, Davis secured a coveted position with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), one of the prestigious "Big 4" accounting firms, marking the start of his promising career.  Tragically, not long after beginning his role at PwC, he experienced complications from the rejection of his donor lungs and passed away on January 29, 2024, at just 23 years old.
